If you really didn’t have a thought in your mind what would be on your mind? I don’t think any mind can actually, really, completely be without some kind of thought spinning or drifting around in there? Meditation has never happened for me. Anyway, what would linger in your brain if you had no thought in your mind?

I’m with you–I don’t think that’s possible. You might get close with your consciousness, but your subconscious is a whole other puppy with its own agenda.
For me, all I had to do was just get partway there, with some calm, peace, tranquility for about 20 minutes a day… and I automatically began sleeping better and waking up more alert. I never would have believed that until it happened. It was a pleasant surprise.
