A Post is Not a Blog!

I don’t like what seems to be a new trend, to call a blog post a blog in itself. Maybe it seems like a cute short form to some people. It is not. It is just incorrect, misleading and silly.

If you refer to your last blog I assume you are talking about some other blog, on another site. I do not think you mean a previous post to the blog I am currently reading.  As writers we share a responsibility to keep the standards in our languages, to uphold communication so it all makes sense. Although some things change and evolve it does not mean things should be allowed to slip into meaningless drivel that erodes communication. The purpose of language is clear communication.

A blog is a blog. A blog post is not a blog. Isn’t that nice and simple? Why yes, it is. Let’s not muck it up.

Hi,

I thought that even a small post is called a blog. What does a blog should have to be called a blog?
