About the Word Grrls Blog:

Word Grrls is creative writing prompts and exercises, inspiration and information geared to those who write and publish online.

Word Grrls is written by me (Laura) thus it is sometimes wise, sometimes opinionated, sometimes eccentric, sometimes proven wrong but still sincere in wanting to give back to people and share what I have discovered and explored or just found by mistake.

Everyone can use some extra insight, inspiration and the odd laugh. In the end, we are all a part of the web and everything we create as individuals represents the whole.

I started online in 1996, an IRC diva. It was a lot of fun. I had taken Corporate Communications at college, a two year course. The free style and creativity of web publishing appealed to me, long before weblogs became popular.

I started writing online in 1998. At first creating my own site, then a newsletter and then I branched out and wrote for online networks like HerPlanet, Suite101, WZ.com, LockerGnome, and BackWash. During this time I became an editor with the Open Directory Project as well.

I have experience, insight and a lot of opinions about writing and publishing on the Internet. I like to learn by doing, making mistakes and getting messy.

Word Grrls is on both Twitter and Facebook but I have not found time to do much with either of these accounts.
