Your Personal Blog Can Fill a Niche Too

I haven’t really thought a personal blog could be a niche blog. Seemed there was just too much to pack into or nail down to become a niche. I was wrong.

I read a post from Lorelle who has become famous (at least to me) for her posts about WordPress. She posted about her cousin’s personal blog as part of a series about personal blogs. Lorelle says her cousin, Duke, has the example of a perfect personal blog. Not to my thinking as I’m not a fan of any blog with a black background, but there is something to be learned from Duke’s blog. It fills a niche, nicely. Read the description of his blog, that’s where the niche gets nailed down and he slides right in. It’s very well done.

Duke, maybe with help from his cousin, has used his personality, his interests and become a niche blog. I bet it wasn’t done in a day. But, it was done and I think this really does show that any personal blog can become a niche, if we take some time to think and plan. Come up with a few lists about who you are and what you most like to post about. Even though there are thousands of Mommy Blogs there is something unique about yourself and your blog that you can find a niche too. I’m going to work on it for That Grrl, my own personal blog.

I have really enjoyed your new color :) . Not in the outlay or the pictures, but in the ideas and the wording. I like this format and physical color, by the way. I remember the red word grrls blog, but didn’t visit it that often partly because of the unreadability, just a personal preference.

I was leery when you said you were going to change. I love your prompts. I’m just not the “and I had cheerios for breakfast, two bowels, and then Summer came over and we made plans for the trip into town next week” and so forth — but I should have known better :) .

If I remember correctly, at one point you were considering giving up completely, and I’m so glad you didn’t. :)

Have a great weekend!

Theresa

The only practical thing that you might consider is dating your posts. I find it easier to say “scroll down to Feb. 29th” when sending a link than “search for Mommy Blogs; it’s the third post about them on the page, unless she’s added something else lately.” Again, my personal preference.

Personal blog can be interesting. Creativity + imagination could bring the blog to a higher level even the blog is just a personal blog

I am going to add a background image to bring in a little red. I’ve got the plan I just need to find the image in my hard drive or on one of the CD’s I burned. I know it is saved somewhere as I made it for my personal site ages ago.

I kept the dates off to try it that way for a bit. Besides, this blog theme was only showing the time, without the date. Seemed a bit odd.

Glad you are enjoying the words Theresa. I keep writing them. :)

Thanks for the kind words about my cousin (not brother) — who is actually very proud to just be my cousin. There is honor enough in that. While he feels like a big brother, he is my cousin.

And how wonderful that what I wrote and his example has inspired you. Thanks for sharing our stories and your own and keep blogging your passion!

Thanks for correcting me Lorelle. I fixed the post.

Sorry for the black background. I use a lot of black in my art. It reminds me of deep space…
Peace,

Duke
