For Girl Talk Thursday

March 3, 2010

I’m frustrated with myself. I know what I want and I am pretty sure I have the skills I need. What I lack is the trust in myself to try to do what I want to be doing.  Maybe I just need something or someone else to tell me I can do all these things. […]

Jellybeanology to Create a Character?

February 27, 2010

We did Jellybeanology as part of the True Colours Workshop with the Barrie Job Finding club at Northern Lights this month.
I picked the red jellybean.
Cheerful, skillful, intelligent. A born optimist, seldom down long. A joy to be with. Never have to worry about money, financially ample. Determined, passionate, sympathetic for less fortunate. Likes entertainment and prefers to be […]

Secrets to Charisma

February 25, 2010

Secrets to Charisma (from the Barrie Job Finding Club)

Good hand shake
Eye contact
Remembering names and names of family
Express emotions
Smile broadly and laugh lustily
Imagine that you are an electric generator
Humanize what you have to say and put others first

One thing I have considered for myself is to not always add my own stories to every story when people are talking. […]

Give Yourself Some Love

February 14, 2010

On Valentines Day, whether you are single, married or anything in between and beyond, you can write a love letter to yourself. Don’t just joke or use sarcasm to pick on yourself. You are the only you. Appreciate yourself. Give yourself some credit. Tell yourself that you’re pretty good, if not better.

A Birdhouse for Doodle Week

February 6, 2010

The one I posted to U3 for Doodle Week is much prettier than the second one I drew to post here. Still, not every idea which seems great at the time, will work out. You just have to try it and see how things turn out in the end.

Look for Signs to Lead you to New Things

January 31, 2010

Ignore your old life and look for signs that lead you to your new life”.
– Quote from an episode of Charmed which I happened to leave on after The Gilmore Girls on Cosmo TV.
Isn’t it a great quote. I hope I caught it and wrote it down right. I was sort of watching the show and […]

Five Things you can do When Life Overwhelms You

January 27, 2010

If you’re having a bad day, week, month even, it’s hard to sit down and focus on writing. Projects which you know are coming up, deadlines creep right along and you just get more and more behind by the moment. It drags on your spirit and takes your creativity with it. But, here are five things […]

Employability Skills

January 25, 2010

I’m going to a three hour long workshop called ‘Identify Your Employability Skills.’ this afternoon. I’ve been on the diet plan of not eating until later in the day for the last month. But, I am going to treat myself to a breakfast at McDonalds in between catching buses out to the workshop. I don’t […]

It’s a Snow Day

December 20, 2009

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” — Albert Camus
Where do you find your invincible summer when things are wintery all around you? What gives you strength and a feeling of purpose, the fight to keep going/ trying?

How to Make a List of Your Interests

November 29, 2009

I don’t think you can make a real list of all the interesting things you like (whether you participate or observe them) in just a few minutes. There are so many elements to ourselves, so many things we have caught in passing and so much flashing through our minds at any given time. But, if […]

Vacuum Out Your Brain

November 17, 2009

From my horoscope today:
Release your fears and disappointments, forgiving yourself and others.
It would be a good thing if we could all do this, at least once a month. I think it would be like vacuuming your brain. Sucking out all the dust bunnies, the doubts, the negative energy, the bad thoughts, but not the experience […]

The Red Sock Celebration Thing

May 29, 2009

Celebrations aren’t just for victories. Sometimes you should celebrate just getting out of the house and doing something. When you are having a bad day, feeling ordinary or not even that good, try a pair of red socks. At least that’s what Julia Cameron wrote in Supplies: A Pilot’s Manual for Creative Flight.
“Red socks are […]

Feeling Like a Fraud

May 21, 2007

I wrote this in my blog. What do you think? Do you feel the same way?
You have no idea what a big fraud I feel like. I’m no expert in or about anything and yet here I am writing newsletters for Pagans, travelers, gardeners, writers, decorators, and so on. Who do I think I am? But, […]
