One Word Blog Day

The Details for the Revamping of One Word Blog Day

Inspired by Veronica (of Veronica The Pajama Thief), I am keeping the tradition of One Word Blog Day going.

The original One Word Blog Day has disappeared. The site comes up 404. I use the Wayback Machine and found the remains so I could pull the rules for One Word Blog Day and preserve them. At the time, that was all I planned to do. Then Veronica created a post for One Word Blog Day.

I’m kind of a romantic, an optimist and I love history and seeing traditions continued on. So, I decided to give One Word Blog Day a dusting off and a chance to revive.  I originally found One Word Blog Day July of 2008.  I picked the word ‘raggedy’ and posted it to my personal site.

One Word Blog Day ended in 2008. I couldn’t find anything after that year. I didn’t see any notice from the original site giving a new link. Also, I searched online but everything seemed to be from people posting their own words, no one was revamping the original idea.  So here I am.

Here are the New Rules for One Word Blog Day

  • The new word will be posted on Sunday, once a week. Think of your word during the week, or last minute on Sunday, but be sure to post it on Sunday then link back here (on the weekly post) so everyone has the week to visit and leave comments on your One Word Blog Day post. We all know how nice it is to get a comment… if you leave comments you are also more likely to get comments in return.

  • Your blog title must be “One Word Blog Day.” You can add your word to it- “One Word Blog Day: Your Word” but not more than that. For one thing, it will be too long.
  • Only one word can be written in the entry. Hence the theme of this day. However, you can add definitions of your word and/ or a sentence about why you picked that word, if you choose to.
  • If you plan to participate, comment on the blog entry for the week. This will help to keep tabs on everyone, and make it easy for everyone participating to leave comments for each other while they explore the words chosen.
  • A link back to this site is appreciated. You can choose this page which gives details about One Word Blog Day so others can join in. Or the current page for the week (the one I will write with my own word for the week).
  • If you do link back here, please link to: http://wordgrrls.com/one-word-blog-day/
  • Choose your words wisely.  Your word will say something about you. Think of something uniquely you. What does the word say about your style, your life and how you feel, what you’re doing.
  • Have fun with it. Take this as an excuse to find new words, play with words and explore language arts a little.

That’s it for the rules.
