Advice for a New Blogger

I was asked: What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog?

Write a list of blog topics. When you can’t think of another topic to add to the list read down your list several times until you feel a theme with your topic choices. Use this theme to create your niche blog. It should not be just a blog about one focused topic but have some offshoots to make it original and interesting.

Then write a list of at least 100 posts you could write for this blog. If you can’t come up with 100 post ideas fairly easily you should not start this blog. Ideas flow for a new project when you still have all your passion. Later, when you hit a rut or things seem to be plodding along, you need to still have the interest, the drive to be able to keep the blog going. If you can start a blog with 100 ideas to turn into blog posts the chances are good that you could at least make it through your first year.

  1. If all people did this, we’d have 5% of the blogs we have today. We’d also have less people to abandon their blogs in 2 months 😀

It’s a great advice. Blogging means being able to write about something for quite some time. You need to be well informed on that topic, passionate and be able to keep writing CONSTANTLY for a while.
