Looking Out of your Small Room

I looked up Rainer Maria Rilke when I read the following quote in a book:

For if we think of this existence of the individual as a larger or smaller room, it appears evident that most people learn to know only a corner of their room, a place by the window, a strip of floor where they walk up and down. – Rainer Maria Rilke

I found a few other quotes I liked:

The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens. – Rainer Maria Rilke

Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave. – Rainer Maria Rilke

Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest being something helpless that wants help from us. – Rainer Maria Rilke

No great art has ever been made without the artist having known danger. – Rainer Maria Rilke

It is a tremendous act of violence to begin anything. I am not able to begin. I simply skip what should be the beginning. – Rainer Maria Rilke
